Before Applying the WatchPAT ONE NOTE: Make sure you have your four digits PIN to activate the device.

  • Remove tight clothes, rings, watches, and other jewelry.
  • Remove nail polish and artificial nails from the test finger and make sure the fingernail is cut short.
  • The device should be worn on the non-dominant hand, and the finger sensor can be attached to any finger, except the thumb.
  • Adult supervision may be required to apply the device.

Operating the Device

Preparing to Start the Test

Note: Your phone must have access to the internet while you are setting up the WatchPAT ONE device for the test.

  • Please turn off all other transmitting devices in the room, such as smart watches, other smart phones and headphones, as it could interfere with the test.
  • Do not use any CPAP or APAP machine the night of your WatchPAT test.
  • Open WatchPAT ONE application on your mobile device.
  • Follow the instructions in the application that will guide you through the steps of operating the test.

At the End of the Test

  1. Press the END RECORDING key in the WatchPAT ONE application and follow the instructions.
  2. If the application is closed open it, make sure your phone is connected to the Internet and wait for the “Thank You” notification.
    • Only when you see a “Thank You” message presented on the application, the test is completed and sent to your doctor..

After the Test

  1. You will follow up with your provider to discuss the results.
  2. If needed, a sleep machine (AutoPAP) will be prescribed.
    • You will be contacted 5 – 21 days later by the medical equipment provider to set up the machine. 
    • It normally takes several weeks for insurance approval for your machine.

Tips & Tricks

  • Make sure your phone has been updated with the latest operating system.
  • All Bluetooth devices should be at least 15 feet away.
  • Watches, Alexa, speakers, headphones, etc
  • For patients that have DexCom glucose monitoring device devices, use WatchPat device on the day you do not use your DexCom device (when you are switching the device out).
    • The DexCom systems interfere with the study since it is connected to a transmitter through Bluetooth.
  • If you have a relative that has a Bluetooth heart monitoring system that can not be turned off, you will need to sleep in a different room or be at least 15 feet away from the monitoring system.
  • If you have a Bluetooth heart monitoring system, the WatchPat device cannot be used to obtain a sleep study.
