Allergy season is a challenging time for many of us. Spring brings warmer weather, but it also harbors itchy eyes, sneezing, runny noses, rashes, etc. Unfortunately, allergy season can also throw a wrench into another area of our lives.

Our skin and complexions can suffer from seasonal allergies. Take a look in the mirror. Have you noticed any sensitivity or dullness that is not present during other times of the year? If so, seasonal allergies may be to blame.

What can you do about it? It may be time to switch up your regular skin routine. Ingredients in your skincare may cause reactions that generally don’t happen during other seasons.

Our bodies are more sensitive during allergy season as we’re already fighting off the extra allergens in the atmosphere. While our bodies are hyper-sensitive to our surroundings, products we use on a day-to-day basis may become irritating during allergy season.

What are the primary culprits? Keep an eye out for essential oils, fruit extracts, and fragrances. If you’ve noticed skin sensitivity recently, check your products’ ingredients and lay off them for a few months. Instead, trade your smell-good stuff for unscented washes and moisturizers. Don’t worry; you don’t have to banish your coveted products forever. Once your skin goes back to normal, you can start up again.

If you’re an allergy sufferer and have noticed a change in your skin, allergies may be to blame. The good news is you don’t have to spend the spring with dull itchy skin. Just tweak your everyday routine and go out and enjoy the sunshine.
